Benzyl 3-(4-(methoxycarbonyl)phenyl)-4-oxo-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triazaspiro[4.5]decane-8-carboxylate (1.16 g, 2.32 mmol) and lithium hydroxide (0.15 g, 3.48 mmol) in methanol (10 mL) and water (1 mL) were stirred at 45° C. for 20 h. The reaction was partially evaporated under vacuum, the residue acidified with 6M hydrochloric acid, and extracted with ethyl acetate.
