A solution of 1.4 g of hydroxylamine hydrochloride, 1.9 g of sodium acetate and 5 ml of water was added to a suspension of 3.10 g of imidazo-[1,2-a]-quinoxaline-2-carboxaldehyde in 30 ml of ethanol and the mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 4 hours and was evaporated to dryness. The white crystalline residue was triturated with water and was filtered. The product was dried in vacuo over phosphorus pentoxide to obtain 2.83 g of imidazo-[1,2-a]-quinoxaline-2-carboxaldehyde oxime melting at 243°-245° C.
