Reaction Steps

A slurry of 3 g of N1 -(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-N2 -(2-carbomethoxyphenyl)formamidine in 10 ml of methanol was stirred at room temperature. A solution of 0.8 ml of 14.8M ammonium hydroxide in 5 ml of methanol was added to the mixture which was stirred for 1 hour. The white solid which formed was separated by filtration, washed with aqueous 2-propanol and vacuum oven dried to give the ammonium salt of 3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-4(3H)-quinazolinone.
