To a solution of 2,2,2-trifluoro-N-{2-fluoro-5-[methyl(5-nitropyridin-2-yl)amino]phenyl}acetamide (18.0 g, 50.2 mmol) in ethanol (100 mL)/tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) was added 10% palladium-carbon (1.8 g), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 14 hr under a hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm). The insoluble material was filtered off, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was crystallized from ethyl acetate/hexane to give the title compound (21.2 g, 68%) as colorless crystals.
