Procedure
To a solution of [(2S,5R)-5-methyl-4-(phenylmethyl)-2-morpholinyl]methanol (5 g, 22.59 mmol) and triethylamine (9.45 mL, 67.8 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (50 mL) stirred under nitrogen at 0° C. was added a solution of methanesulfonyl chloride (4.37 mL, 56.5 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (15 mL) dropwise during 5 minutes. The reaction mixture was stirred at 25° C. for 2.5 hours. Then the reaction mixture was washed with saturated NaHCO3 aqueous solution (2×25 mL). The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the title compound (8.0 g) as a yellow oil. LC-MS (ES) m/z=300 [M+H]+.
