N-tert-butoxycarbonyl O-benzyl L-seryl L-valyl L-valyl glycyl glycine methyl ester 24 (SEQ ID NO: 7) (0.525 g, 0.844 mmol) was dissolved in a 50% (v/v) solution of TFA in CH2Cl2 (12 mL) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred for 1 h 30 min before the solvent and bulk of excess TFA were evaporated. Et2O (10 mL) was added to the liquid residue, which resulted in precipitation of a white solid.
