To a solution of tert-butyl 3-[(4-{[(3,4-dichlorophenyl)amino]carbonyl}piperazin-1-yl)carbonyl]piperidine-1-carboxylate (1 g) in dichloromethane (40 mL) was added 4M HCl in dioxane (6 mL) and methanol (5 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours and then evaporated to give the title compound as a white foam (0.87 g, 100%).
