1.2 g of ethyl (7-isopropoxycarbonyl-6-methyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydropyrrolo[2,1-b]thiazol-3-ylidene]acetate was suspended in 25 ml of a 40% aqueous solution of monomethylamine and stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with water and recrystallized from ethanol to thereby give 1.2 g of the title compound.
