Procedure

N-[(3-benzyloxy-2-fluorophenyl) (3-chloropyrazin-2-yl)methyl]cyclobutylcarboxamide: To a solution of C-(3-benzyloxy-2-fluoro-phenyl)-C-(3-chloro-pyrazin-2-yl)-methylamine (1.1 g, 3.2 mmole) in methylene chloride (10 mL) was added diisopropylethylamine (1.1 mL, 6.4 mmole) under a nitrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture was cooled in an ice bath and cyclobutanecarboxylic acid chloride (0.55 mL, 4.8 mmole) was added in one portion. The reaction mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature then quenched with water (10 mL). The organic layer separated and washed with 10% aqueous NaHCO3, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated. The crude product was purified by silica gel column chromatography using hexane:ethyl acetate (60:40) as an eluant to give the title compound (911 mg, 67%). FAB-MS: m/z 426.3 (M+H)+.
