To a solution of isopropyl 4-[1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)cyclohexyl]benzoate (13) (0.136 g, 0.39 mmol) in dichloromethane (1.5 ml) was added trifluoroacetic acid (0.5 ml) and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature under argon atmosphere for 2.5 hours. The volatiles were evaporated and the residue was chromatographed on silica gel with toluene-dioxane-acetic acid (95:5:1) as eluent to give the title compound (0.105 g, 92%).
