To a solution of 2-{4-[N-(1-(4-toluenesulphonyloxy)-2-methylprop-2-yl)sulphamoyl]anilino}-4-(1,2-dimethylimidazol-5-yl)pyrimidine (Method 81; 2.14 g, 3.75 mmol) in acetone (73 ml) was added powdered anhydrous potassium carbonate (0.57 g, 4.13 mmol). The mixture was heated at reflux for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool filtered and the solid washed with acetone. The filtrate was evaporated to give the title compound (1.36 g, 91%) as a white solid. NMR 1.42 (s, 6H), 2.37 (s, 3H), 2.43 (s, 2H), 3.95 (s, 3H), 7.20 (d, 1H), 7.63 (s, 1H), 7.77 (d, 2H), 7.95 (d, 2H), 8.43 (d, 1H), 10.0 (s, 1H), m/z 399.
