Procedure

4-(4-Iodo-3,5-dimethylphenyl)-2-methoxypyrimidine is dissolved in 33% solution of HBr in acetic acid (7.7 mL) and the mixture is stirred for 12 hours at room temperature. Then the mixture is diluted with water. The formed precipitate is filtered off, washed with acetone and dried. Yield: 1 g; LC (method 11): tR=0.92 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=327 [M+H]+.
