In a manner similar to that of Example 1c, by reacting 1.57 g (5.3 mmol) of methyl 5-tert-butyl-6-hydroxy-4′-methyl-3-biphenylcarboxylate with 1.14 mL (10.5 mmol) of isobutyl bromide. A yellow oil is obtained (m=1.8 g; yield=95%).
