Following General Procedure F and using 8-ethyl-4,4-dimethyl-6-(trimethylsilanyl)ethynyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-naphthalen-1-one (Intermediate 179, 0.66 g, 2.2 mmol), methanol (10 mL) and potassium carbonate (0.4 g, 2.9 mmol) the title compound was obtained as an orange oil (0.59 g, 100%). 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.51 (d, 1H, J=1.5 Hz), 7.37 (d, 1H, J=1.5 Hz), 3.32 (s, 1H), 3.10 (q, 2H, J=7.3 Hz), 2.84 (t, 2H, J=6.7 Hz), 2.08 (t, 2H, J=6.7 Hz), 1.48 (s, 6H), 1.33 (t, 3H, J=7.3 Hz).
