A solution of 76.36 g of tetrabromomethane in 100 ml of CH2Cl2 is added dropwise at -10° C. to a solution of 0.2 mol of cyclohexylacetaldehyde and 104.8 g of triphenylphosphine in 150 ml of CH2Cl2. After stirring at room temperature for 30 min, the mixture is filtered with suction, concentrated and purified on silica gel using petroleum ether as the eluent. 48 g of the title compound are obtained as an oil.
