Procedure
2-Fluoro-5-nitrobenzoic acid (60 g) was suspended in 300 ml of methanol, 6.0 g of 5% palladium-carbon was added thereto and the mixture was reduced at 40 ° C. with hydrogen pressure of 6.5 atm. The catalyst was removed, the solvent was evaporated and the crystals separated out therefrom were filtered to give 42 g of 5-amino-2-fluorobenzoic acid, m.p. 189°-192° C.
