Procedure
3 g of the diphosphonic acid obtained in Example 1 were dissolved in 250 ml water and, after addition of 1.5 g PtO2, hydrogenated at atmospheric pressure up to the take-up of the calculated amount of hydrogen. After separation off of the catalyst and evaporation in a vacuum, the residue was brought to crystallisation from water/acetone. Mrel. 0.33, yield 2.61 g (85% of theory), m.p. 279°-285° C. (decomp.).
