Procedure
A mixture of (3-chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (8.4 g, 36.8 mmol), allyl bromide (7.46 g, 39.1 mmol) and cesium carbonate (24.9 g, 76.4 mmol) in DMF (100 mL) is heated at 600 C. for 1 h. The reaction is quenched with water, extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer is dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue is purified by silica gel chromatography eluting with 0-40% EtOAc in heptane to afford allyl-(3-chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (8.4 g, 85%). MS: 269 (M+H); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ=8.66 (s, 1H), 8.49 (d, 1H), 7.18 (d, 1H), 5.80-5.96 (m, 1H) 5.15 (s, 1H), 5.10(d, 1H), 4.2 (broad s, 1H), 1.43 (s, 9H).
