A mixture of 1-acetyl-6-amino-4-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2,2,4-trimethylquinoline (300 mg), 4-iodobenzoyl chloride (520 mg) and a catalytic amount of N,N-dimethylaminopyridine in pyridine (4 ml) was stirred for 18 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo, the residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate and washed with saturated aq. NaHCO3, water and brine. The organic layer was dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo.
