Procedure

14.2 g (20 mmol) of benzyl 4-benzyloxycarbonylamino-5-[bis(2-benzyloxycarbonyl-aminoethyl)amino]pentanecarboxylate are dissolved in 300 ml of isopropanol, treated with 30 ml of water and 3 g of palladium catalyst (10% Pd/C) are added. The mixture is hydrogenated at 50° C. for 8 hours. It is filtered off from the catalyst and the filtrate is evaporated to dryness in vacuo.
