Procedure

4-Fluoro-4-(2-fluoro-phenyl)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.4 g, 1.35 mmol) was dissolved in a solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane (4 M, 3 mL) and the mixture stirred for 1 hour. The solvent was evaporated under vacuum, and the resulting solid triturated from diethyl ether to give the title compound as a pale yellow solid (0.26 g) which was used without further purification.
