To a solution of 3.42 g of 3′,5′-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroacetophenone and 3.00 g of 3′-bromo-4′-methylacetophenone in 5 mL of heptane, 0.71 g of triethylamine was added and the resultant reaction mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 8 hours. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was left to be cooled down to room temperature. A deposited solid was separated off and was washed with 3 mL of hexane to obtain 6.16 g of the objective substance as a white crystal.
