A mixture of N-(5-bromo-4-methylthiazol-2-yl)acetamide (4 g), furan-2-yl-2-boronic acid (4.22 g), tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (1.8 g) and 2 N sodium carbonate (36 ml) in DME (60 ml) was stirred at 95° C. for 18 h. After cooling, water (100 ml) was added. Extraction with ethyl acetate (3×80 ml), drying, concentration and purification (SiO2, 0 to 100% ethyl acetate in hexane) gave pure N-(5-(furan-2-yl)-4-methylthiazol-2-yl)acetamide (2.95 g).
