The product from step (vii) (0.329 g) was added in one portion to a mixture of sulfuric acid (2 ml) and MeOH (4 mL). The resulting solution was stirred at 70° C. for 2 h. The mixture was allowed to cool and poured into saturated aqueous NaHCO3 (20 mL). The aqueous was extracted with EtOAc and the combined organic phase was dried, filtered and evaporated. The crude product was purified by RPHPLC to afford a colourless gum that was triturated with hexane (5 mL). The solid was collected by filtration to give the title compound as a colorless solid 0.089 g.
