Methyl 1-(4-methoxy-2,6-dimethylphenylsulfonamido)cyclobutanecarboxylate (4.58 mmol, 1.0 equiv.) was dissolved in THF p.a. (40 ml) and slowly added dropwise, under nitrogen, at 0° C., to a suspension of LiAlH4 (11.4 mmol, 2.5 equiv.) in THF p.a. (20 ml). The reaction mixture was stirred for 1 hour at 25° C., then saturated Na2SO4 solution was added and the mixture was filtered off over Celite. The filtrate was concentrated and the desired product was precipitated in the form of a white solid from hexane. Yield: 92%
