Procedure
Conc. HCl (12 ml) was added to ethyl 5-acetyl-4-phenyl-7a-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)-3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydroisoxazolo[4,5-c]pyridine-3-carboxylate (2 g) at 0° C., and the reaction mixture was heated to 130° C. for 5 h. The hydrochloric acid was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was dissolved in dichloromethane and basified with sodium carbonate solution. The organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane. The combined organic layers were washed with brine solution and dried over sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the crude compound which was used in the next step without further purification. Yield: 50%.
