Reaction Steps

To a suspension of tert-butyl {2-[benzoyl-(3,3-diphenylpropyl)amino]ethyl}carbamate (225 mg) in EtOAc (675 μL) was added 4M HCl/EtOAc (1.23 mL) at ambient temperature and the mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 1 hour. The resulting mixture was diluted with n-hexane (5.0 mL) and the precipitate was collected by filtration followed by washing with n-hexane (10 mL) to afford N-(2-aminoethyl)-N-(3,3-diphenylpropyl)benzamide hydrochloride (166 mg) as colorless crystals.
