To a solution of tert-butyl 1-(4-(3-phenylureido)phenylsulfonyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolin-3-ylcarbamate in 1,4-dioxane (1 mL) was added 4 M hydrogen chloride in 1,4-dioxane (2 mL, 8.0 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 hours. Water (1.5 mL) was added and the mixture extracted with ethyl acetate (3×1.5 mL). The combined organics were dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated to give 1-(4-(3-amino-3,4-dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-ylsulfonyl)phenyl)-3-phenylurea as its HCl salt.
