In a similar manner as described for example 49 (step 1), 5.47 g of 5-[6-(hydroxymethyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-3-yl]-3-{1-[2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethoxy}thiophene-2-carboxamide, 2.57 g of methanesulfonyl chloride, and 2.39 g of triethylamine in 130 ml dichloromethane give [3-(5-carbamoyl-4-{1-[2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethoxy}-2-thienyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-6-yl]methyl methanesulfonate as crude material that is used for step 2 without further purification.
