To a solution of methyl 4-bromo-2-thiophenecarboxylate (221 mg, 1.0 mmol) in dioxane/H2O (5:1, 6 mL) was added K2CO3 (414 mg, 3.0 mmol), tetrakistriphenylphosphine Pd(0) (60 mg, 0.05 mmol), and 1-propyl-5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole (404 mg, 1.5 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated to 70° C. in a sealed tube for 2 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated and purified on silica gel (EtOAc/Hex 10-40%) to give the title compound (176 mg, 70%) as a white solid: LC-MS (ES) m/z 251 (M+H)+.
