Procedure

A solution of 0.80 g (1.45 mmole) of the nitrobenzene derivative of Example 43 in 50% methanol-THF is reduced with 5% palladium-on-carbon catalyst. The filtered solution is concentrated at reduced pressure to give 0.75 g of pure product as a solid foam; mass spectrum (EI) 522 (M+).
