Procedure
To a stirred mixture of the compound of Example 14 (1.3 g) in ethanol (8 ml) was added hydrogen peroxide (40 vols, 15 ml) and 6M aqueous NaOH (6 ml). After 15 min, the reaction mixture was diluted with water (75 ml) andthe white solid filtered off. Recrystallisation from acetonitrile furnishedthe title compound (200 g) as small white plates (mp235°-238°C.). Found C, 65.06; H, 6.09; N, 13.44. C17H19N3O3 requires C, 65.16; H, 6.11; N, 13.41%.
