The carboxylic acid described above was converted to its acid chloride by reaction with thionylchloride in pyridine as described in Example 17 and the resulting acid chloride reacted with 3-phenoxybenzyl alcohol in dry benzene in the presence of pyridine as described in Example 17 to give 3-phenoxy-benzyl [1R-cis-]-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dibromovinyl)cyclopropane carboxylate, m.p. 93°, nD 1.5848 (Compound P29A).
