Procedure

Hydrolysis of ethyl 4-(2-diethylaminoethoxy)benzoate hydrochloride with aqueous concentrated hydrochloric acid at 100° for 2 hours gives 4-(2-diethylaminoethoxy)benzoic acid hydrochloride, m.p. 166°-168°.
