Procedure
A solution of 4-{5-chloro-2-[(2-chloro-pyridine-4-carbonyl)-amino]-phenyl}-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (6.7 g, Example 1, Step C) in dichloromethane (20 ml) was treated with trifluoroacetic acid (10 ml) for 20 hours at room temperature. Concentration of the solution under reduced pressure afforded 2-chloro-N-[4-chloro-2-(piperazin-1-yl)-phenyl]-isonicotinamide trifluoroacetate (6.9 g) as a brown solid. MS (ES+) 351/353 (M+H+).
