Procedure

To a solution of N-(2,5,6-trimethyl-indan-2-yl)-benzamide in THF under nitrogen is added LiAlH4 and the mixture refluxed for 48 hours. Quenched at 0° C. with ice/water and extracted with ether, dried (Na2SO4) and solvent removed in vacuo. Purification by chromatography (silica, ethyl acetate/hexane 1:4) gives a colourless oil.
