Procedure
To a solution of 5-(1-allyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-2,4-dibromo-1,3-thiazole (5.00 g, 14.3 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (133 mL) was added N-[4-(trimethylstannyl)pyridine-2-yl]acetamide (5.14 g, 17.2 mmol), lithium chloride (1.82 g, 43.0 mmol), copper (I) iodide (0.818 g, 4.30 mmol) and tetrakis (triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (1.24 g, 1.07 mmol). The flask was purged with argon and then the mixture was heated at 115° C. for 4 hours. The reaction was allowed to cool to room temperature, and then the solvent was evaporated in vacuo. Column chromatography was performed to yield the title compound (3.13 g, 54%). LCMS: (FA) ES+, 406. 1H NMR (400 MHz, d6-DMSO) δ: 10.77 (s, 1H), 8.66-8.61 (m, 1H), 8.49-8.44 (m, 1H), 7.61-7.56 (m, 1H), 7.49-7.45 (m, 1H), 5.98-5.87 (m, 1H), 5.19-5.12 (m, 1H), 4.95-4.88 (m, 1H), 4.70-4.64 (m, 2H), 2.13 (s, 3H).
