Didecyldimethylammonium chloride (0.02 mol) was dissolved in distilled water and 0.015 mol of benzoic acid sodium salt was added. The solution was stirred at 80° C. for 7 h. The reaction mixture was extracted by chloroform. Chloroform phase was removed and washed with distilled, cold water until chloride ions were no longer detected using AgNO3. Then chloroform was removed. Obtained benzoate in 85% yield was dried in vacuum. 1H NMR and 13C NMR (CDCl3) were obtained.
