5-[4-(methoxymethyl)phenyl]-3-(methylsulfanyl)-1,2,4-triazine (4.0 g, 72%) was prepared from methyl hydrazinecarbimidothioate (7.33 g, 31.46 mmol) and 4-(methoxymethyl)phenylglyoxal (4 g, 22.47 mmol) according to the general procedure of Preparation 2.
