Procedure

To a stirred solution of 6-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-1,6-diaza-spiro[3.3]heptane oxalate (350 mg, 719 μmol) in dichloromethane (6 mL) was added at 0° C. triethylamine (221 μl, 1.58 mmol) followed by 4-fluorobenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride (294 mg, 1.51 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 15 h. Further 4-fluorobenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride (100 mg, 0.51 mmol) and triethylamine (200 μl, 1.4 mmol) were added, the reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for another 3 h. The reaction mixture was then diluted with dichloromethane 10 mL) and quenched with water (10 mL). The aqueous phase was extracted with CH2Cl2, and the combined organic phases were washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by chromatography (SiO2; heptane:ethyl acetate 2:1) to give the title compound (456 mg, 89%) as a colorless oil. MS (EI) m/e: 357.1 (M+H)+.
