Procedure
To a solution of 6-chloro-1-tosyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridine (8.5 g, 27.7 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (150 mL) in an ice bath was added m-chloroperbenzoic acid (85%, 8.4 g, 41.6 mmol). The mixture was stirred at RT for two h. The reaction mixture was quenched by saturated sodium thiosulphate solution. The organic layer was washed with saturated NaHCO3 solution and water, dried (Na2SO4) filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 8.75 g (90%) of 6-chloro-1-tosyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridine-4-oxide as a yellow solid. MS (ESI): m/z=323.0 [M+1]+.
