Procedure
To a solution of N-methanesulfonyl-6-(6-methyl-2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-ylmethyl)pyridine-2-carboxamide (100 mg) in N,N-dimethylformamide (1.2 mL) were added cesium carbonate (155 mg) and methyl iodide (0.023 mL), and this mixture was stirred at room temperature for 17 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with water, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluting solvent: ethyl acetate-hexane) to obtain the title compound (38.3 mg). 1H-NMR (DMSO-d6) δ ppm: 2.43 (3H, s), 3.38 (3H, s), 3.57 (3H, s), 4.21 (2H, s), 6.82-6.89 (1H, m), 7.24-7.33 (2H, m), 7.37 (1H, d, J=8.0 Hz), 7.43-7.58 (5H, m), 7.81-7.90 (2H, m), 10.90-11.55 (1H, br). ESI-MS (m/z): 434 (M+H)+.
