Alcohol 33 (142 mg, 0.22 mmol) was dissolved in dry dichloromethane (7.5 ml). S-Trityl-mercaptoacetic acid (110 mg, 0.32 mmol) was added and the reaction cooled to 0° C. DIC (50 μl, 0.32 mmol) and DMAP (1.3 mg, 0.01 mmol) was added and the reaction stirred at 0° C. for 15 min. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the product purified by column chromatography (eluent: 2:1 hexane/ethyl acaetate—1:1 v/v hexane/ethyl acetate) to afford 34 as a white solid (190 mg, 91%).
