A solution of [3-(4-methoxyquinolin-2-ylamino)propyl]carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (3.10 g, 9.35 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (20 ml) was treated with 4N HCl in 1,4-dioxane (10 ml). It was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours then was evaporated under reduced pressure to give N′-(4-methoxyquinolin-2-yl)propane-1,3-diamine dihydrochloride (2.81 g, 99%) as a white solid.
