Starting from 5-(3,5-diethoxy-4-iodo-benzyl)-pyrimidine-2,4-diamine (example 1) (414 mg; 1.0 mmol) and 3,4-dimethoxy-phenyl-boric acid (363 mg; 2.0 mmol), 328 mg (77%) 5-(3,5-diethoxy-4-thiophen-3-yl-benzyl)-pyrimidine-2,4-diamine [sic] are obtained as a yellowish powder after recrystallization from methanol.
