Procedure

5.0 g of hydroquinone, 40 cm3 of methanol and 1.0 g of sulphonated styrene resin (Amberlyst 15) are fed into the autoclave. The autoclave is pressurised to 5 kg/cm2 with O2 and kept at 105° for 4 hours. 1.04 g of hydroquinone monomethyl ether are obtained (18%).
