Procedure
5.0 g of ethyl N-(((5-chloro-8-quinolinyl)oxy)carbonyl)glycinate (prepared as described in Example 1) was stirred in 30 ml of 5 N hydrochloric acid at room temperature. A precipitate formed and was collected by filtration and subsequently recrystallized from ethanol to give the desired ethyl N-(((5-chloro-8-quinolinyl)oxy)carbonyl)glycinate hydrochloride salt as pale yellow crystals, m.p. 170° C. (decomposition).
