180 g of Br2 were added dropwise to amixture of 300 g of XII and 3 g of Fe powder at room temperature, and the mixture was stirred for 14 hours at room temperature. The crude product was dissolved in CH2Cl2, and the solution was washed with water, dried over Na2SO4 and distilled. 220 g of (XIII) of boiling point 160° C./0.1 mbar were obtained.
