A mixture of 2.0g of 3-[(1,3-benzodithiol-2-ylidene)amino]- 2-thioxo-4-thiazolidinone (see example 37), benzaldehyde (20 ml, excess) and pyridinium acetate (5 ml) is prepared and heated at 120° C for 3 days under nitrogen with stirring. The mixture is then cooled, diluted with ether and filtered. The residue is washed with water and recrystallized from dimethylformamide to yield 2.2 g of the title compound, melting point 288°-289° C.
