A solution of 18 g of the product of Step A in 150 ml of toluene was added over 15 minutes to a suspension of 19 g of phosphorus pentachloride in 23 ml of toluene and after gas evolution ceased, the mixture was refluxed for 11/2 hours. The toluene was evaporated under reduced pressure to obtain 19 g of N-(2-trifluoromethylphenyl)-propanimidoyl chloride in the form of a yellow oil which was used as is for the next step.
